1A Team Previews: Limon

Fresh of a state title, let us begin with the might Badgers! 1A schools always face a tough climb after being senior heavy and the Limon Badgers are losing several key senior players. Here’s a summary of the seniors and their contributions:

  1. Lance Beedy (Sr.) – A significant contributor in receiving yards per game and receiving touchdowns.
  2. Lohgan Bottjer (Sr. – RB, OLB) – Led in rushing yards per game, total touchdowns, and also contributed in receiving touchdowns.
  3. Keon Bandy (Sr.) – Contributed in rushing yards per game, total touchdowns, tackles per game, interceptions, and caused fumbles.
  4. Jordan Rockwell (Sr. – QB) – Key player in rushing yards per game, total touchdowns, interceptions, passing touchdowns, and had the highest quarterback rating.
  5. Treyton Marx (Sr. – T, OLB) – Led in tackles per game and sacks, also contributed in caused fumbles and quarterback hurries.
  6. Nathaniel Coonts (Sr.) – Contributed in tackles per game, sacks, receiving touchdowns, and caused fumbles.

Given the significant contributions from these seniors across various aspects of the game, including offense, defense, and special teams, Limon is losing a substantial portion of its leadership and talent. These players have contributed to both scoring and defensive stats, indicating they were integral to the team’s success.

Determining whether Limon will be better or worse next year without these seniors is challenging without knowing the depth of talent in the underclassmen or potential incoming players which not a lot received a ton of playing time. However, losing experienced seniors, especially those who contribute significantly in key positions (like quarterback and running back), means there will likely be an adjustment period. This is offset somewhat by things such as good coaching so we won’t drop them too far down the rankings. Overall best guess: -20% ability.
