Delta Panthers’ Dominance Continues from Spring Camp to Playoff Victory

From Gunnison’s Spring Camp to the Playoffs: This team is strong.

As someone who witnessed the Delta Panthers’ sheer dominance during their spring camp in Gunnison, Colorado, it was no surprise to see them carry that same energy and skill into the CHSAA State Football Playoffs. Their recent game against the Alamosa Mean Moose was a testament to their coaching, weight room program and athletic dominance, ending in a commanding 49-14 victory for the Panthers.

A Game of Tactical Superiority

From the first whistle, it was clear that the Panthers had not left their spring camp intensity behind. The team’s cohesion and strategic gameplay, already apparent during those early sessions in Gunnison, were on full display. The Panthers dominated every quarter, showcasing a balanced attack that left the Mean Moose struggling to keep up.

Standout Performances

  • Ty Reed’s Commanding Presence: Junior Ty Reed’s performance as quarterback was nothing short of spectacular. Completing 9 out of 15 passes for a total of 216 yards, Reed’s 60% completion rate and two touchdowns were pivotal in setting the tone for the game.
  • Rushing and Receiving Excellence: The rushing game, led by Talan Hulet (Sr.) with 153 yards and three touchdowns, contributed significantly to the team’s 250 rushing yards. In receiving, Clayton Cryer (Sr.) made an impressive 71-yard catch, highlighting the team’s dynamic offensive capabilities.
  • Defensive Mastery: The Panthers’ defense was a wall that the Mean Moose could not breach. With players like Talan Hulet and Xavier Martinez (Sr.) making critical tackles and interceptions, Delta’s defense was a key factor in their victory.

Reflections from Spring Camp to Playoffs

The only team to really give Delta any problems at spring camp was Rifle. It is apparent how much this team has grown and at the moment they are absolutely the clear favorites to win the state title.
